How Many Games Should a BTTS Accumulator Have?

Two to five legs is where a BTTS acca still makes sense. What each extra game really costs you, worked out from the price your app is showing.

Two to five. Past five legs a both-teams-to-score accumulator stops being a bet and starts being a raffle, because each game you add multiplies the chance of failure instead of adding to it. TheDatabetics puts the sensible range at two to five selections, and the arithmetic on your own slip says the same thing.

What does each extra leg cost you?

Work it out from the price rather than from a feeling.

The payout climbs at the same speed, and that is the trap. A four-fold at 1.75 a leg returns about 9.4 times your stake. It looks like a reward. It is a price.

The goals fixtures we have rated today are on the live over 2.5 goals table, GG and Over 2.5 marked on each line, with league, kick-off in WAT and the morning price. FC Thun against Servette and Puebla against Toluca are both on it as this goes up. The full card sits on the JoeOdds homepage.

Build your own legs off that table. Prices shift when team news lands, so check the app before you stake.

How do you pick the legs?

Two things have to be true of both teams: they score, and they concede. People get the first half right and forget the second. A side winning 2-0 every week is the worst thing that can happen to your ticket.

So look at clean sheets before you look at goals scored. A keeper in form and a settled back four will kill a BTTS leg quietly, and the scoreline will still read like a good game.

Then check the league. Then check whether either side played in Europe on Thursday.

Which odds are good for BTTS?

Anything much under 1.60 is telling you the market already knows. You are being asked to risk a lot to win a little on a fixture everybody has spotted.

Above about 2.00 the bookmaker thinks the game is likely to stay tight, and it usually has a reason. The useful range sits in between, which is also the range where nobody is doing your thinking for you.

Is a BTTS acca better than a single?

For turning a small stake into a big one, yes. For keeping your money, no. Those are two different questions and most losing tickets come from answering the first while believing you answered the second.

A reasonable compromise is three legs and a separate single on the one you actually fancy. If you want the two-condition version of the same bet, GG and over 2.5 explains what you are asking for.

Questions people ask

What is a BTTS accumulator?

One ticket carrying several matches, every one of which needs both teams to score. A single 2-0 anywhere on it kills the whole thing.

Does GG mean the same as BTTS?

Yes. GG is what the Nigerian apps call it, BTTS is what the UK sites call it, and NG is the no side of the same market.

Do own goals count for BTTS?

They do. The goal is credited to the attacking side for settlement, so an own goal keeps your leg alive.

What happens if a match on the acca is postponed?

Most bookmakers void that leg and settle the rest at reduced odds. Your ticket survives, your return drops.

Is there a BTTS calculator?

You do not need one. Multiply the odds together for the payout, and multiply one-over-each-price for the chance.
