What Does 1X2 Mean in Betting?

1X2 is the match result market: 1 home win, X draw, 2 away win, settled on ninety minutes. Extra time, postponed games and double chance compared.

1X2 is the match result market, and the three characters are the three results. 1 is the home team winning, X is a draw, 2 is the away team winning. You pick one. It settles on the score at the end of ninety minutes plus whatever stoppage time the referee adds, and nothing after that counts.

Is 1X2 full time or does extra time count?

Full time only. If a cup tie you backed goes to extra time and your side wins it there, your 1X2 bet has already lost or drawn, because the market closed when the ninety minutes did.

This catches out a lot of people in knockout rounds. The team goes through, the bettor watches the slip settle as a loss, and the bookmaker has not made a mistake.

Can you lose a 1X2 bet?

Two ways out of three, every time. There is no insurance in this market and no stake back on a draw, which is what separates it from double chance and draw no bet.

That is also why it pays what it pays. A home side at 1.90 is priced at a shade over half, so the bookmaker is telling you this one goes wrong nearly as often as it goes right.

Today's 1X2 picks

Our rated match-result calls for the day are the live table on the pick of the day page, with the fixture, the league, kick-off in WAT and the price at the morning refresh. The goals side of the same card sits on over 2.5 goals. Prices move when team news lands, so check Bet9ja or SportyBet before you stake.

What does 1X2 look like on Bet9ja and SportyBet?

Three columns beside the fixture, usually headed 1, X and 2 in that order, sometimes labelled home, draw and away. Some apps write W1 and W2 instead of 1 and 2. It is the same bet under a different label.

You will also see 1X, X2 and 12 nearby. Those are double chance, not 1X2, and they cover two results for a shorter price.

Is 1X2 the same as double chance?

No. 1X2 is one result out of three. Double chance is two results out of three on a single selection, so it wins more often and pays less. Our double chance list is the one to use if you want the draw covered.

How do people actually play 1X2?

As a single, mostly, which is the version that survives a bad weekend. Six 1X2 legs on one slip is where most tickets die, because the draw only has to turn up once.

If you want a short-priced anchor rather than a long shot, the sure 2 odds page and the single bet page are both built around one selection at a time.

Questions people ask

What does W1 mean in betting?

Home win. W2 is the away win. Same market, different notation, common on Eastern European and Asian bookmakers.

What does 1/2 mean in football betting?

That is half time and full time, not 1X2. 1/2 means the home team leads at the break and the away team wins the match.

What is an example of a 1X2 bet?

You back 1 on a home side priced at 1.75. It pays if they are ahead at full time. A 1-1 draw loses it, and so does a 2-1 away win, because only one of the three results was yours.

What happens if the match is postponed?

The bet is usually voided and your stake comes back, though bookmakers differ on how long a delay has to run before it counts as postponed. Read that rule in your app once and you will never wonder again.

Stake only what you can afford to lose. Picks are opinions, not promises. 18+.
