A clean sheet means a team finished without conceding. Back home clean sheet and you need the away side to score zero; back away clean sheet and the home side must score zero. The result itself does not matter, so a 3-0 and a 0-0 both land a home clean sheet.
What qualifies as a clean sheet?
Zero goals conceded, and that is the whole test. Bet9ja's own market rules put it in a line: a clean sheet is a team that has not conceded any goals. Nothing about winning. Nothing about how many you scored at the other end.
So the market is really two separate bets. Home clean sheet asks whether the home team keeps the away team off the scoresheet for the entire match, and away clean sheet asks the same of the away team. You are backing one defence rather than a result.
Does a 0-0 draw count as a clean sheet?
Yes, and it counts twice.
Neither team conceded, so a goalless draw settles home clean sheet and away clean sheet as winners on the same match. That catches people out, because 0-0 feels like the score where nothing happened. In this market it is the one result where both sides of it pay.
Is 2-1 a clean sheet?
No, and nor is it a clean sheet the other way round. Both teams scored, so both teams conceded, and both bets lose. Quickest way to read a result: cover your team's goals with your thumb and look at the other number. A zero there and you are paid.
What does clean sheet No mean?
Clean sheet No is the other side of the same question. It wins when the team concedes at least one goal, and one is enough.
That makes No the side that tends to slip in late. A team defending a 1-0 is winning the Yes for eighty-odd minutes right up until somebody scrambles one in off a corner, and then the Yes is gone and the No is good.
What does away team clean sheet mean?
It means the away side concedes nothing, so the home team has to finish on zero.
I do not treat it as the simple mirror of the home version, and here is why. A team defending away from home is usually the one under pressure for long stretches, so an away clean sheet is asking for sixty or seventy minutes of it rather than twenty. When I take one, I want a side that sets up deep on purpose, not a favourite that happens to be travelling.
What about first half and second half clean sheets?
Same market, shorter window. Bet9ja lists half-time clean sheets for both teams, where the question is only whether that team keeps a clean sheet during the first half.
There are second-half versions too, and they carry a rule worth reading before you tap one. Goals scored in the first half do not count towards settlement of that market. So a side that ships two before the break and nothing after still wins its second-half clean sheet.
Today's clean sheet reading
Today · 12 October 2026
We do not price clean sheets as a market of their own. The one that answers the same question from the other end is live, though: the GG table lists the matches we rate for both teams to score. A fixture rated GG is a fixture we are not expecting a clean sheet in, so that table reads as a shortlist in reverse. The full card for the day sits on football predictions, the goals lines are on over 2.5, and finished scores, losers included, are on results.
The table changes as team news lands, so look before the early kick-offs rather than after.
